NARAL PRO-CHOICE COLORADO CONGRATULATES PRO-CHOICE PRIMARY WINNERS, LOOKS FORWARD TO ELECTING A PRO-CHOICE LEGISLATURE AND GOVERNOR

Denver – NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado Executive Director Karen Middleton tonight issued the following statement in response to the Colorado primary results:

“NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado congratulates all the pro-choice primary candidates who ran this year,  because they truly reflect our longstanding pro-choice Colorado values. We thank Cary Kennedy, Donna Lynne and Mike Johnston for running pro-choice primary campaigns, and we offer our congratulations to Congressman Jared Polis on his win tonight.

Congressman Polis has been an ally to reproductive freedom in the House of Representatives, fighting anti-abortion personhood bills and most recently speaking out against the Trump Domestic Gag Rule, which will severely limit access to abortion and other reproductive health services. With today’s Supreme Court ruling bringing us to the brink of a direct challenge to Roe, a pro-choice Colorado Governor becomes even more critical to reproductive freedom.

NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado looks forward to engaging our more than 50,000 members to educate pro-choice voters statewide. We are committed to playing an active and strong role in electing Colorado’s next Governor and a pro-choice Colorado General Assembly.  It will be up to the states to protect the Constitutional right to abortion against a barrage of attacks from the Trump Administration and its threat to only appoint Supreme Court justices who will overturn Roe. “
