Re: Will Senator Cory Gardner vote to ban abortion today?
On Monday, the Senate will hold a procedural vote on whether to ban abortion after 20 weeks. The vote is currently scheduled for tonight.
Colorado is a pro-abortion rights state that backs Roe v Wade by even more than the 7 in 10 support nationally. Coloradans have repeatedly voted no on efforts to ban abortion at the ballot box.
So will Senator Gardner vote against the wishes of his own constituents on Monday? Will he vote against the advice of Colorado doctors?
As Aurora Ob-Gyn Dr. Rebecca Cohen put it in the Denver Post, “The 20-week abortion ban is intrusive, based on lies, and serves only to further stigmatize reproductive choice, not to protect women or children. Denying women this safe, legal, merciful option and instead forcing them to suffer a stillbirth or carry a terminally ill pregnancy through their due date is cruel and misguided.”
Coloradans will paying attention to whether Sen. Gardner reflects their values or not on Monday. And NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado’s 32,000 members statewide will hold him accountable.
